I am very happy to report that on December 28, the United States Court of Appeals affirmed a jury verdict of more than 13.7 Million Dollars we had obtained for our client, a lift truck dealer whose dealership had been wrongfully terminated. Though the title is a little daunting, it is still flattering to be named an Illinois Super Lawyer. The list of Super Lawyers, which appears in the February issue of Chicago Magazine, seeks to identify the top 5% of lawyers practicing in Illinois. Selection is based on surveys of nearly 47,000 attorneys and independent research conducted by Law & Politics. I have also been named an Illinois Leading Lawyer by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company. This list, compiled from pier recommendations and review by a blue ribbon panel of attorneys, also seeks to identify the top 5% of lawyers practicing in Illinois.
While I have a broad-based commercial litigation practice, I devote considerable attention to the representation of dealers, distributors and franchisees. Indeed, Franchise Times Magazine has included me on its list of the country’s top 100 franchise lawyers; a so-called “Legal Eagle”. Some of the cases I am currently handling, or have recently wrapped up, involve dealers and franchisees of lift trucks, packaged baked goods, home repair services, internal combustion engines and high-end consumer audio/video equipment.
I also provide mediation services, both through the Circuit Court of Cook County’s Major Case Court-Annexed Civil Mediation Program and through independent retention. I am also an arbitrator and sit on the American Arbitration Association's Commercial Panel of arbitrators. Being a mediator and arbitrator provides me an additional opportunity to do what I do best: helping business people and businesses reach satisfactory resolution of their conflicts and disputes.
